Nature Manitoba volunteer trip leaders organize trips to Mantario Cabin over weekends during the summer and during other times of year when the cabin is not reserved for Summer or Winter Program trips.
Generally, these trips are open to Members and involve a number of non-motorized methods of getting to Mantario such as canoeing, hiking, kayaking, skiing and snowshoeing. Details of planned trips can be found in the Society's monthly newsletter Nature Manitoba News.
A number of skiing or snowshoeing trips are organized to Mantario from December through March and are successfully completed providing the lakes are safe to travel on (i.e. the ice has hardened) and providing participants collectively have adequate skills, stamina and experience required for the trip.
Usually a canoe trip and/or hiking trip to Mantario is organized every Thanksgiving weekend (the second weekend in October which includes Monday as a Holiday) and during several weekends throughout the spring, summer and fall.
